Abstract

The use of technology in the world of education has become a major necessity in facing the challenges of 21st century learning, to support a more interesting and effective learning process. One form of technology use that is increasingly popular in elementary schools is the use of YouTube media as a learning tool. This research aims to find out how learning videos from the YouTube platform can increase students' interest in learning and understanding of lesson material. This research uses a qualitative approach with literature study, observation, qualitative and documentation methods. The results of the analysis show that YouTube is able to present visual and audio content that is interesting, interactive and easy to access, thus helping teachers convey learning material in a more enjoyable way. Apart from that, students showed increased active participation and better understanding of concepts compared to conventional methods. Thus, YouTube media can be an effective alternative learning media in elementary school environments if used appropriately, planned and supported by adequate teacher digital literacy.
